Before Karl Wiggins’ fans scream for me rating this book only 4 stars, I only did so to possibly make him more modest. Actually I did so because I’ve read all of his books, but have fallen head over heels for Harpie and anything written by Karl and this amazing woman astound me. I won’t elaborate, but if you’re looking for a novel that you’ll think about months after reading, read the Harpie series.

Now, back to Nobody Asked Me, But... – this compilation of heterogeneous short stories is the sort of book you can read, put down, then find yourself Jonesin’ to get back to and read more chronicles of his life. A couple are snippets not even a full page, but I read his chuckle filled poem "Colours-Bruenette', twice. Most anecdotes are so hilarious you will laugh out loud. Some are introspective, giving readers a peek into Wiggins psyche. A few are polemic, causing readers to fervently react (no gray, either black or white), but at least Wiggins evokes emotions. This is what happens when anyone says (or writes) what many people believe but wouldn’t dare express. The author unequivocally professes his candid recollections are not for wusses, prudes, or those easily offended by ‘no holds barred’ subject matter.

I love to be educated while being entertained, and for the first time in my life, Wiggins descriptive account of his family trip to India, made me want to go there. I’ve had two friend who traveled there, but they volunteered to work in Mother Teresa’s Home for the Dying, so their stories did not entice me to travel. Wiggins doesn’t elaborate on the gruesomeness within the country, and instead depicts its wonderment to entice one to book a flight. It's only my humble opinion, however I would have used the word ignited instead of assaulted as he led us into this glorious tour of a country I knew little about. I've read pretty much everything Wiggins writes, and it’s obvious he has lived an enviable life. I’m not talking famously luxurious, I’m talking about authentic adventures with his mates and his family that make for fascinating and memorable stories.

Nobody Asked Me, But... has something for everyone, and before I wind up writing a novella to highlight each storyline, (my review may or may not be Ambien induced), I’ll end by saying once again, readers are reminded of this author’s factual or fictionalized obsession with gargantuan mammories.

Nobody Asked Me But edition by Karl Wiggins Humor Entertainment eBooks Reviews

This book is a chocolate box – you never know from one chapter to the next what you will get. That is its appeal! Karl Wiggins is the controversial, sometimes angry, sometimes reflective, definitely cynical man from Watford and we love him! By his own admission he writes with a ' hint of worldy weariness. ' He likes to discuss all the things we think in our heads but wouldn't dream of saying to someone's face; like the big tits of his neighbour’s wife. His banter is natural and it’s as if you are in the pub chatting to him. He doesn’t do political correctness but warns you to skip to the next chapter if you are easily offended. To be honest I find him a breath of fresh air in our heavily regulated, controlled nanny state. This book is his random musings on life in the year 2016. He reminds me a bit of Mark Steele the comedian. He has something to say about everything, from the refugee crisis and the hot topic in Britain today – immigration, to turns of phrases he doesn’t like, annoying shop assistants to travel in India with plenty of useful tips and there’s even a chapter on a rare bird.
I don't know why more people haven't read this. Some people have no sense of humor. Anyway, I liked it a lot and love Karl Wiggins.
They say ‘Variety is the spice of life’ and that is pretty much what you get with ‘Nobody Asked Me, But…’
Author Karl Wiggins gives his viewpoints on a variety from topics including sports, food, current events, travel, women and real life events from his life. I have to say I would read this in bed at night and start laughing due to the author’s humorous style. I was actually keeping my hubby awake and had to read in the next room. There’s no holding back as the author brazenly takes a stab at some of the most riveting issues in our world today. I loved the chapter on Men vs. Women and was in hysterics on the one about authors and swap reviews. My side actually hurt from laughing. He got it right that time! Now that I know that author’s style I am looking forward to reading more of his work. Be prepared to be informed and greatly entertained.
I believe this eclectic mishmash is Karl Wiggins' best work so far. Wiggins is very funny--so funny that I burst out laughing while sitting in a medical facility;causing people to stare. How embarrassing. But the other side of this author is deep and complex. He's brilliant! Many of the thoughts he wrote about could have been written by me, because they matched my own. But the funny lines? I only wish I had written them. In the beginning of this book, Mr. Wiggins makes it clear the book is not for everyone. That's correct. Anyone who gets offended easily should pass this up, even though that would be a shame. Because this book is brilliant!
